What is this project?
The New Welsh Mesh is a community-driven initiative to expand Meshtastic coverage throughout the valleys, coastlines, and towns of Wales. By deploying low-power, long-range radio nodes, we are building a decentralized network independent of cellular towers.
Note
This project is currently in the Early Alpha phase. We are looking for node operators in the Tonyrefail areas.

To join the mesh, we recommend the following starter devices:

Get Involved
Ready to join? Grab a device, flash it, and set your region to EU_868. The setup guide walks you through the whole thing.
The mesh only works because people run nodes, so if you fancy helping build it out, there's plenty to do, from sticking a single node on a windowsill to running a repeater on a hill.

Disclaimer
We are by far not the first mesh in Wales, using other software like MeshCore you will most likely get more people in the UK, however I pefer meshtastic and from what I have found, We are the first Meshtastic Mesh in Wales, I pefer Meshtastic because of the ease of use, community intergrations and UI on devices with screens like the Small OLED on the HeltecV3 Boards or the big touchscreens on the Lily-Go T-Deck.
